Donations Report

Understand the breakdown of the Donations report

The Donations report includes details about donations made to your campaign including donor information, donation type, fundraiser or team recognition, recurring and pledge details, and custom questions. The report can be exported for a single campaign or multiple campaigns.

What's Included in the Donations Report

Includes:

Excludes:

  • All donations, regardless of payment status (paid, open, failing, failed, invoiced).

  • All donations, regardless of payment method (card, cash, check).

  • All donations, regardless of the type or checkout experience used to make the donation (Quick Give, GivePoint, manual entry using Offline Donation).

  • Gross and net values.

  • Covered fees amount.

  • Canceled donations.

  • Failed Commitment Charges.


Report Breakdown

Field Name

Field Description

Pledge It Transaction ID

The unique ID that is assigned by Pledge It for the transaction. All transactions will be assigned a Pledge It Transaction ID.

The Pledge It Transaction ID will appear across reports allowing you to marry together financial and category-specific details between multiple reports.

Donation ID

The unique ID that is assigned by Pledge It for the donation. All donations will be assigned a Donation ID.

First Name

The first name of the donor.

Last Name

The last name of the donor.

This field may be blank if not populated when adding an Offline Donation.

Email

The email of the donor.

This field will be blank for Offline Donations.

This field may be blank for donations on an open order if the email field is not populated when using GivePoint Terminal.

Donation Type

The field value will be one of the following options:

  • Donation

  • Pledge

  • Monthly Donation

  • Quarterly Donation

  • Yearly Donation

  • Commitment Charge

  • Fund-a-Need Donation

  • In-Order Donation

  • Offline Donation

Campaign or Program ID

The unique ID for the campaign or program that the donation is associated with.

Campaign ID Format:

camp-[unique number]

Program ID Format:

prgm-[unique number]

This field will use the Program ID format when the donation is made directly to the program and not to an individual campaign.

Campaign or Program Name

The name of the campaign or program that the donation is associated with.

Team Name

The name of the team that the donation is credited to.

Team ID

The unique ID for the team the donation is credited to.

Fundraiser Name

The name of the fundraiser that the donation is credited to.

Fundraiser ID

The unique ID for the fundraiser the donation is credited to.

Status

The payment status of the donation. The field value will be one of the following options:

  • Paid

  • Open

  • Invoiced

  • Failed

  • Failing

Fund a Need Title

The title of the specific need or level that the donation is credited to as part of the Fund-a-Need activity.

Fund a Need ID

The unique ID of the specific need or level that the donation is credited to as part of the Fund-a-Need activity.

Giving Plan ID

The unique ID of the giving plan.

Giving Plan Status

The current status of the giving plan. The field value will be one of the following options:

  • Active

  • Canceled

  • Failing

  • Failed

Date Added

The date the donation was added to the platform.

For example, this date could represent the date the donation was added to a participant’s tab or the date an offline donation was entered in the admin dashboard.

Payment Date

The date the donation was successfully paid.

This field will only be populated when the payment status is paid.

Pledge Invoice Date

The date a pledge will be invoiced.

This field is only relevant for pledge donations.

Total Amount

See Understanding Total Amount field for a full breakdown by donation type.

Intended Donation

For all donation types excluding Pledge donations, this field is the amount the donor decided to give to your campaign, excluding covered fees.

For pledges, the intended donation value will be based on the fundraiser’s activity goal until performance is finalized. Once finalized, the intended donation value will be based on the confirmed activity of the fundraiser.

Fees Covered

This field answers the question, did the supporter cover fees for this donation?

The field value will be one of the following options:

  • Yes: The supporter was presented with the option to cover and decided to cover fees.

  • No: The supporter was presented with an option to cover and decided to not cover fees.

  • N/A: The supporter was not presented with the option to cover fees. For example, the payment method used was a check and fees are not applicable.

Covered fees are collected during the checkout process based on Checkout Option setting:

  • Quick Give: Based on Donation Fees

  • GivePoint: Based on Order Fees

Mailing address is only collected during Quick Give based on Checkout Option setting for Donor Contact Info.

Mailing address fields may be blank if:

  • The field(s) was set to optional or disabled for the specific checkout experience at the time the transaction was completed.

  • The field(s) was not provided when completing an order using the GivePoint Terminal.

  • If the donation type is an Offline Donation.

  • If the donation type is Commitment Charge.

Manually populated mailing address fields will be included on the report export.

Phone

Phone is only collected during Quick Give based on Checkout Option setting for Donor Contact Info.

Phone may be blank if:

  • The field(s) was set to optional or disabled for the specific checkout experience at the time the transaction was completed.

  • The field(s) was not provided when completing an order using the GivePoint Terminal.

  • If the donation type is an Offline Donation.

  • If the donation type is Commitment Charge.

Manually populated phone fields will be included on the report export.

Comment

The comment provided by the donor and displayed on the campaign’s public fundraising pages.

Donor Name Hidden

This field indicates if the donor’s name is hidden on the campaign’s public fundraising pages.

Custom Questions

Custom questions are only collected during Quick Give, and are based on the questions added under Donation Options > Collect Info settings.

Custom Questions may be blank if:

  • The question(s) was set to optional or disabled at the time the donation was completed using Quick Give.

  • The donation type is Commitment Charge, Fund a Need, In-Order, or Offline Donation.

Manually populated custom questions will be included on the report export.


Understanding Donation Types

Donations can be made to your campaign in a variety of ways—using Quick Give, GivePoint, or manually by adding offline donations. All donations, regardless of the checkout experience used, will be assigned a donation type. This type is used to categorize the donation in your admin dashboard and reporting.

Understanding Total Amount Field

The total amount field value may vary by donation type.

Intended Donation + Amount Paid towards Covered Fees

If the donor was not offered the option to cover fees, this field will equal Intended Donation.

Fund-a-Need,

In-Order Donation

Intended Donation

Fund a Need and In-Order Donations can be bundled together with other items, like shop products, raffle tickets, etc. The amount paid towards covered fees is only recorded at the order level.

To see the covered fees amount for an order, refer to the Orders or Paid Transactions Report.

Offline Donation

Intended Donation

Pledge

When the payment status for the Pledge is Paid, the Total Amount equals the amount the donor paid, including covered fees.

This field will be blank for all other payment statuses.


Understanding a Payment Status of a Donation

Paid

A donation that was successfully paid. This could be a successful credit card, cash, or check payment.

All offline donations will be assigned a status of Paid.

Open

A donation that is unpaid and payment has not been attempted.

Examples:

  • An open pledge that will be charged once activity is finalized

  • A donation on an open tab

Invoiced

A donation that has been invoiced and remains unpaid.

Example:

  • A pledge invoice that is sent once the campaign is complete and the participant finalized their performance.

Failed

A donation where the credit card payment was not processed successfully, and all auto-attempts to retry the charge were exhausted.

Examples:

  • A donation on an open tab where the payment fails

  • A pledge or recurring donation where all of the automatic retry attempts were unsuccessful

Failing

A donation where the credit card payment was not processed successfully, and there are remaining auto-attempts to retry the charge.

Donations that will have a failing status include pledges and recurring donations.
