Disable Join and/or Donate buttons

Turn off the ability to collect registrations or donations on your campaign

Updated today

You can disable donations or registrations to your campaign at any time – and can even schedule them to close at a predetermined date.

Steps

  1. Visit your campaign’s Dashboard.

  2. Select the Settings option on the left sidebar menu.

  3. Under General Settings > Setup tab, scroll down to the Engagement section where you will find toggles that allow you to hide the donation button or registration button.

  4. When you adjust the toggle(s), you can indicate if you’d like to disable the button(s) “Immediately” or at a “Future Date.”

  5. Press Save once you have made your adjustments.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there any point where donations or registrations will close automatically?

That depends on your settings. If you have enabled ticket scheduling, you may have registration options that enable/disable at the set dates you have indicated. If you have capped registration on a ticket and your tickets sell out, this will also prevent sales of that ticket. You can also disable registrations for particular ticket options by toggling them off at any time. None of these options will disable the Join button on your campaign; they just influence what registration options appear when someone clicks Join.

If you want to fully remove the Join/Donate buttons from your campaign homepage, you must follow the steps above to disable the button from your campaign.

Note: The only exception is if you choose to mark a campaign in your Organization Dashboard as “Done,” moving it to an archived state. The Donate and Join buttons are removed by default on all archived campaigns.

Can I still add offline donations if donations are disabled?

Yes. You can add offline donations to your campaign at any time.

Best Practices

  • If you’re repeating a campaign on Pledge It, we recommend double-checking that donations and registrations are disabled on the previous year’s campaign. This will prevent donors and participants making donations to or registering on the wrong campaign.

  • Don’t be too hasty when turning off donations after your big event! Many campaigns see a significant amount of last-minute donations in the two weeks after their campaign.
