Assign team captain status

Designate a fundraiser as a team captain

Updated over a week ago

Fundraising team captains have additional features available to help manage their team. By default, the fundraising participant that created the team during registration will be assigned as the team captain. You can manually assign additional team captains to a team as needed.

Steps

  1. Visit your campaign’s Dashboard.

  2. Go to the Recruit tab and search the Participants table for the fundraising participant you would like to assign as a team captain.

  3. While viewing the Participants table, click on the three dot menu and select Reassign. Alternatively, you can click on their participant record and click on the double arrow symbol under their name.

  4. In the pop-up that appears, toggle “Assign as team captain” under Roles & Permissions.

  5. Click Update.

Note: Team features are only available on campaigns with a peer-to-peer component. If you are not seeing the options to utilize teams on your P2P campaign, confirm that you have the team option setting enabled.

Frequently Asked Questions

What capabilities do team captains have?

Team captains can edit their team page (photo, description, goals, vanity URL), invite new and previous team members, receive email notifications about donations made to their team page, pin posts in the Team Dashboard’s message center, and export a .csv file of their team’s donation data.

Can a team have more than one team captain?

Yes, teams can have multiple team captains, but you will have to assign additional team captains manually using the steps above. Only the fundraising participant who created the initial team is automatically assigned as team captain.

Where can team captains download their team’s donation information?

Team captains have access to a private Team Dashboard to monitor their team. Under the Donations tab of their Team Dashboard, they will see an option to download their donation data.

Best Practices

  • Stay in touch with your team captains throughout your campaign by messaging them through your Message Center. Set your audience as “team captains” to only message participants in this role.

  • Fundraising participants are more likely to listen to fundraising tips and communication that comes from their team captain. Be sure to provide team captains with tips and support to help them keep their team members engaged.
