Donation matching occurs when a sponsor, company or individual agrees to match your campaign donations dollar for dollar for a specific time period and/or up to a certain dollar amount. If you’ve obtained a sponsor match, you can enable this feature on Pledge It to automatically match donations and inform donors their gift has been matched.
Steps
Visit your campaign’s Dashboard.
Select Settings from the left sidebar menu.
Select Donation Options from the Settings menu.
Under the Matching tab, click New Match to add a sponsor match.
Fill in the sponsor name, logo (optional), start date of your match, and match limit. If your match is for a limited time, enter the end date in which the match should close. If no end date is set, the match will run until it is used up.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the sponsor match include offline donations?
By default, Pledge It includes all donations in your sponsor match. You can choose to disable the inclusion of offline donations in your sponsor match if desired. Simply adjust the toggle under the Offline Donations box that appears on the Sponsor Matching settings page.
Are donors notified that their gift is being matched?
Yes. When a sponsor match is enabled, a widget appears during the donation process, informing donors that “[Sponsor Name] is matching your $[amount] gift for a total of $[amount].” Your campaign’s Donation Feed will show a similar display indicating how much the sponsor matched on each donation.
How are matched dollars tracked?
Your campaign’s Dashboard will show a breakdown of online donations and matched donations, so you can see how much you’ve brought in from donors. When you view your Sponsor Match in your settings, you will also see a progress bar showing how much of your match has been used and how much is remaining.
What happens when the match is used up?
Once the sponsor match limit is reached, the match will turn off and future donations will not be matched.
Note: If there is only a small amount remaining in your match, but a donor makes a large gift, be aware that we choose to prioritize the donor experience and show the donor that their gift is matched in full, rather than displaying only a portion matched.
