Set a vanity URL

Personalize your campaign page with a customized URL

Updated over 2 months ago

Every campaign on Pledge It can have a customized vanity URL, which alters the slug (the back portion) of your campaign’s URL. When creating a new campaign, you’ll be prompted to set a vanity URL or you can use a default URL that we assign to your campaign.

Steps

  1. Visit your campaign’s Dashboard.

  2. Select the Settings option from the left sidebar menu.

  3. Find the Campaign Vanity URL option under the General Settings > Setup tab.

  4. Enter your desired vanity URL and click Save at the bottom of the page.

Note: Your campaign is assigned a default URL upon creation, which looks like a string of numbers and letters. Even if you set a vanity URL, your campaign's default URL will remain active and unchanged.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I reuse a vanity URL from a previous campaign?

A vanity URL can only be in use on one campaign at a time, but you can apply that previous URL to a new campaign by removing it from an old campaign. When using the duplicate campaign feature, you'll see the option to re-use your vanity URL and the platform will take care of updating it for you.

What happens if I change the vanity URL on my campaign after I have already publicized it?

Changing a vanity URL will overwrite the previous URL, breaking any previous versions of that link. We do not recommend changing your vanity URL after you have publicly promoted it. Anyone visiting the previous version of your campaign’s hyperlink will see a 404 Not Found error.

Best Practices

  • Shorter is better. Your vanity URL should be short and memorable – easy enough for someone to quickly type in their browser.

  • If you are running an annual event, we recommend reusing the same URL year-over-year (i.e. /TheBigChallenge instead of /TheBigChallenge2024). This will ensure that when people search for your campaign, links on search engines to the previous year’s event will redirect to your current campaign.
