Add items to your silent auction

Updated over a week ago

There’s no limit to the number of items you can add to your silent auction. You can begin adding items as soon as your auction is enabled. Items will be listed as “Scheduled” in your Dashboard if you are adding your items before your bidding period opens. Items will be listed as “Live” if you are adding items while your bidding window is open.

Note: If you have not yet enabled your auction, visit Settings > Auction to add this feature to your campaign before following these steps.

Steps

  1. Visit your campaign’s Dashboard.

  2. Select Auction from the left side menu, then select Create in the top right corner.

  3. Select New Item. You’ll be taken to a new page where you can fill in basic information, upload photos, and set bid details for the item.

  4. After completing the fields, click Publish Item.

  5. Repeat for additional auction items.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a limit to the number of photos I can add for an item?

No, there is no limit. The first photo you add will be the cover photo for the item, with additional photos available to view. You can rearrange photos once you have added more than one.

What dimensions are needed for the photos I upload?

Auction item photos require a 4:3 aspect ratio. While you can upload an image of any dimension, you will be forced to crop it to a 4:3 aspect ratio (i.e. a rectangle shape). To upload a file that meets that exact ratio, you can use any of the following dimensions: 1024 x 768, 1600x1200, 1920xx1440. What's most important is that you use clear, high resolution images.

How do I determine the starting bid and bid increment for my auction item?

We recommend setting your starting bid at 30-50% of the fair market value of the item and closer to 50% for high-ticket items to generate interest, and recommend setting your bid increment at 10-15% of the fair market value of the item to ensure bidding stays competitive.

If you don't know the fair market value of your item (i.e. what the item would cost if someone purchased it outright), it may be helpful to do some research into a few comparable items to see what they would cost to purchase; averaging the cost of those comparable items will give you a good starting point for your fair market value.
