How to Connect a Non-Profit Checking Account to Stripe

Pledge It uses Stripe to collect contributions from your pledgers and donors. It is one of the five steps you'll need to complete before you launch your campaign.

To get started, log into your dashboard or create a new account if you have not done so already. Go to pledgeit.org/dashboard, and if you need to create an account, you can quickly do so with just some basic contact information.

Then, from the top of your dashboard, click "Recipients" and then the big green "Create Your First One Now!" button.

Click the big green “Connect New Account” button.

Then select “This bank account belongs to (your recipient), I will handle the funds,” from the two options you see here. Name your bank account and click “Connect bank account on Stripe.com.”

Then you'll fill out your business details. We know the amount of information below can seem a little bit daunting. But just know that the detail required to complete this step is for you and your businesses’ security, so you can safely and confidently collect the funds you worked so hard to earn.

Go ahead and add your business address. Then, under “Type of Business” select the option that applies to your business. Then, enter your business’ legal name and Employer Identification Number.

Next, enter your organizations’ website. The website information is for Stripe and doesn’t appear on your campaign. If for some reason, you don’t have a website, you can simply link your organization’s Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn profile.

Under the business description, you can include your organization’s mission or quickly describe what you’re raising money for.

Then Stripe will ask for some information from you, as the business’ manager for this account, such as your name and date of birth. Go ahead and enter your position within your organization. Then, enter the last four digits of your social security number, and a home address. You can add your business address again instead of your home address if you prefer, and you’ll want to note that this information will only be used by Stripe if there is reason to believe that there is fraudulent activity associated with your account. Then enter your organization’s name in the field underneath the statement descriptor.

Next, enter a phone number and address. This information is not visible on your site, and will only be used if someone from Stripe needs to contact you.

Now, enter the routing and account numbers for the bank account that will be used to collect the funds, and confirm it in the field below. You can optionally add your cell for Stripe’s two-factor account authentication.

Lastly, just click to authorize access to this account. You might need to check your email to confirm your account with Stripe. But if you do, this final step will be waiting for you and you’ll then be redirected to your Pledge It account to finish completing your campaign.

That’s it! Congratulations, you just completed the most detailed step required to launch your Pledge It fundraising campaign. If there are any other actions left unchecked on the left-hand side of your dashboard, simply complete them, and you can start sharing your campaign
